Ored Recordings' liner notes:
We wanted to approach our collaboration with the Hungarian art-punk band Dorota in the same manner as our previous joint projects with other European musicians, such as S'adouno and RedeR Nouhaj. These projects usually involved trips to the North Caucasus, where we introduced our guests to our performers and had joint sessions and gatherings.
Unfortunately, we were unable to meet Dorota in person, and all our communication remained virtual. Despite this, we exchanged ideas, music, and lyrics, resulting in our Hungarian friends creating new music that was inspired by our releases.
“Good” is the result of this virtual collaboration and is our label's most atypical release. What makes it unique is that there are no reinterpretations of specific songs from our discography, nor are there any "cover versions" of traditional melodies. Dorota created something of their own, without attempting to fake intercultural dialogue.
We are excited to publish “Good” on our label with a pure heart and sincere interest. Additionally, this virtual collaboration has given us a good indication of the potential for our future cooperation.
Dorota's liner notes:
Dorota’s new EP ‘Good’ is a compressed and flowing imprint of their recent turbulent years both personally and as a band. The album is composed into one continuous and often surprising flow of atmospheres, spaces and orchestrations. During the process the two most prominent inspirations were the shifts in their personal life and a long planned, yet physically never happened journey to the North Caucasus to work with Circassian label Ored Recordings and their affiliated musicians. Due to the global circumstances first caused by the pandemic and then the war in Ukraine the long awaited collaboration forced into the virtual field, however a long-term personal and creative connection also established between the label and the band. (Originally founded in Kabardino-Balkarian state Circassia/Russian Federation, Ored Recordings now operates from Tbilisi, Georgia.)
Connecting seemingly far musical dots to each other is a rather typical method of Dorota, however this short album is their most personal one yet, channeled through often enigmatic lyrics. Spanning from 80’s inspired art funk of the track ‘Good’, through the spoken word/punk-rock ‘Open Heart Close’ to the almost folk-black metal ‘For We Are Many’ the album takes listeners on a journey that never happened. Yet.

Fascinating Senegalese-Swedish project. As the "Collectif" suggests, many musicians are involved. The foundation of the album had been recorded in Senegal under pandemic circumstances, overdubs have been added in Sweden and Senegal. A real cross-cultural endeavour ! Carsten Pieper
