Although I'm not Greek, these 'Rembetika' tracks ceertainly convey the feeling of this aptly titled album. The precise meanning of the word seems to be a little confused; suffice to say it was the Greek underground music of the day & later revived in the 60's & onwards.
I like to think of it as Greek blues. Get out your Ouzo bottle, kick back & let the music transport you to days gone by in another world. Nostro

She knocks me out. She really does. The sadness, the longing, the blues which seeps from this music are too hard to listen to, sometimes. Bought a couple of these Greek music compilations and stumbled into some major musical discoveries, this record being one of them. Check it out. Robert Bloemkolk
